VISUALISE, CONNECT & STIMULATE ALL LOCAL POSITIVE ACTORS!

 

This project can be run by a group of children or youth in the context of school, youth clubs, organisations or just completely independent.

 

- Visualise all the "Treasures" in your city or region, contributing to a better Now and Future.

- Think of and research positive places, spaces, institutions, people...

- Contact them, get a project description with images, explaining what their contribution to a positive future is

- Invite them for a public get-together for delivering their Treasure (themselves, their undertaking, commitment) to the Treasure Map

- Spread the results across schools and local media

- Maintain and evolve the map

- Stimulate amplifying cooperation of local positive actors and introduce thoughts of innovation from your knowledge of global positive news examples

- Create a Local Edition from the gathered content

Some words about the Treasure Mapping Adventure:   The idea is to visualise all the positive actors and places in / around the city or neighbourhood. The Treasures are all the things that enrich life in this place - in tune with a global, peaceful, just and sustainable civilisation. Maybe the things that contribute to "Gross National (Local) Happiness". To expand your understanding of Treasures, think of places and institutions and organisations, but it is truly the PEOPLE that give life to these institutions! And you will find that there are strong differences! UNESCO has recognised outstanding people in their Living Human Treasures program for cultures. With PNYV!, we expand this to people from the full spectrum of positive change.   This includes a wide range of things that may not be considered if only applying conventional, formal sustainability aspects: like adventure playgrounds, the nice river valley, the organic bakery, the solar shop, the alternative theater, the youth eco club, the youth art center, the open air pontoon lounge on the lake-side, the kindergarden group recycling fashion show, the school peace garden, the Fair Trade shop, the Citizen Bridge to Nicaragua Club, the wilderness school, the homeless people soup kitchen cinema, the rolling organic honey store...   Anyone normally thinking "this place is so boring, nobody cares, the adults are all corrupt, ..." will be positively struck by 70 colourful spots in a city of 30,000 indicating people who care, who move positive things, holding up a better place for the people living there. On top of this, all these are places, groups and people one can JOIN for action.   Each "Treasure" contributes materials / a description of why they are a treasure, in how far they contribute to a better Now and Future, in tune with Agendas21 sustainable development aspects.   The process immensely widens participants' insights into who does what, what works and what doesn't in this city, who are the stakeholders influencing status quo and change in this place.

"Treasures" are usually very positively surprised to be addressed and recognised in this manner, and in such an innovative way by children or youth.

 

Everyone becomes aware of other positive people and potential partners for collaboration that had been unknown to them before.

 

The playful way of creating a Treasure Map, maybe even in some form of costumes, creates a lot of smiles. This is important, since many positive actors usually face a lot of wind in their face - lack of funds, frustrating ignorant public and destructive policy-makers...

 

Inviting people to deliver their treasure to the treasure box at a certain day in a public space brings about a Positive People Party, - a great occasion for an Open Forum / Open Space get-together that can stimulate positive vibes and decisions. Setting up a backdrop with PNYV! Global Edition Positive News Boards and extra stuff can bring innovative, inspiring examples and ideas from outside the city's small nucleus and stimulate people for new, innovative ventures.

 

Student and children groups are proud and happy to be involved, appreciated, included, to bring and demonstrate their successful, dedicated efforts and seeing themselves along with adult projects. And seeing this run by children or youth in the driver's seat of innovation! A great educational process for everyone involved.

 

The undertaking easily gains the support by local Agenda21 offices, organisations and administration, it easily gains the attention and appreciation of the mayor and all sorts of local media.

 

The Map is great to send along (free) school boards and reach out to youth in schools across the city to join in, add their treasures, create their local neighbourhood maps etc.

 

Altogether, a magnificient project for play- and joyfully raising awareness, understanding, spirit and amplifying community and networking for positive collaboration in the city.

 

The resulting product, the Map, can be constantly exhibited, hosted and evolved in a public place. More people will learn about, love to contribute and be inspired to actually create Treasures.

 

The results (project descriptions and encounters) provide the articles and interviews needed for a local positive news edition.

 

This project involves project development, planning, communication, research, artistic design, media work, interviewing, public relations, event management, conferencing, - to different degrees.

 

It has learning dimensions that are exciting and wanted for many educational environments, from school and youth club media classes and social entrepreneurship and many others. A children and youth educational project of SOCIETAL RELEVANCE AND EFFECT! How often do young people experience this?

 

It is great for a year's project week, too.

 

Consultation and orientation by an adult experienced in local civil society, administration, media, event management, public relations is useful, but not indispensable.
